Hull Housewives Air Grievances, 1946 July 26, Hull Daily Mail
At the third meeting organised by Hull branch of the Housewives’ League within the last 10 days, Mrs Eva Beecroft, a member of the WVS, stressed the importance of unity within the league.
When the meeting was open for discussion, the questions which related to bread urged that housewives should be classed as manual workers as soon as possible.
Points from opinions expressed by the audience were: more buses are needed for Hull schoolchildren; catering establishments should not receive such a large allocation of food; couples living with relations should be allowed a supply of coal.
Mrs F. L. MacGee (chairman of the branch) presided.
