A West Hull Wedding, 1914 Dec 29, Hull Daily Mail
A quiet wedding was solemnised at the Hessle-road Congregational Church yesterday afternoon, the parties being Mr Walter Ford, eldest son of Captain and Mrs Ford, and Dorothy Capes, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Capes. The bridegroom’s father is at present interned in Hamburg, having been there since the commencement of the war. The bride’s father is a well-known fish merchant. The bride looked very nice in a fawn costume, with trimmings of powder blue velvet, hat to match, and was attended by her sister (Miss Olive Capes) as bridesmaid, who was attired in a pale grey costume and black hat, trimmed with flame coloured ruche. Mr Walter Capes (brother of the bride) acted as best man, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev B. W. Jackson. A reception was afterwards held at the home of the bride’s parents. The happy couple afterwards departed to Bridlington with the best wishes of all their friends and relatives.
